Outside, the air was muggy and wet; inside the trains was suffocating with the heater on full-blast (it was still February, right?). I seriously thought I was going to pass out, but I somehow reached the venue still in one piece in time for our soundcheck at around 4pm. Been maybe five or six years since I last played at HEAVEN'S DOOR. To my surprise and, you could say, comfort, the place and people hadn't changed much. Felt good seeing familiar faces in a familiar and "natsukashii" atmosphere.
Well, the night was pretty hectic being that aozoa was the last to rehearse and the first to perform. After our soundcheck, we had a little less than an hour before the show so we just sorta sat around in the venue and waited. It was a bummer that we didn't have time to go out and have our usual dinner and crazy conversation, but, what can I say?
Our set list was as follows:
1. a little too late
2. a quiet morning
4. girls in full bloom
6. the fall
The stage felt really small (yeah, with three of the aozoans being 180cm+), but, no, we didn't go crashing into each other and stepping on each other's pedals. We pretty much stayed put and concentrated on our playing, I guess. I remember the lights sizzling on my back (low ceiling = close lights) and sweat spurting out of my pores. I could only imagine what that felt like for the taller guys as well as midori's (skin)head. lol
After our show, I spent an hour fighting a killer stomachache while watching the other bands. The event, a mixture of rock, pop, digital, and punk, finished around 11pm. We had but enough time to chug down only one drink before we ran to the station to catch a train home.
I'm hoping the next time we play at HEAVEN'S DOOR we'll have more time to relax before and after our show...
